My William Pike Challenge Adventure

At the age of 19 William Pike was climbing Mt Ruapehu with his friend, James. To sleep they went to find a cabin. When he was sleeping a huge rock slammed against his leg and James, Who had never been climbing before, had to climb back down the mountain and get help. After a while a helicopter came up and flew him to a hospital where he had his leg amputated. Because of his love of the outdoors he wanted to educate others and he set up the William Pike Challenge Award. For this award we have to do between 6-8 Outdoor Challenges. Here is my recount on our rock climbing adventure - outdoor challenge #2!

On Monday the 20th of June our class went rock climbing on the Port Hills, in Christchurch.
Thank you to all of the adults that gave us transport: Andrea, Tanya, Miss Todd, Mrs Royfee, Jacqui and  MIss Blair for organising the rock climbing and Josh and Steven who were our instructors.

Josh talked about the values that we were to focus on today; Pride and Resilience. They both relate to our everyday life. In sport if you get knocked down you will have to get back up and keep going and that is resilience.

IMG_3216.JPGI don't have any experiences with rock climbing but I do climb a lot of trees. When I first saw the rocks we were climbing there were some that looked easy and others that looked harder. Eventually I did climb and down one in 20 seconds and another one that I made it three quarters up.

I felt that rock climbing brought up my adrenaline and I'm  sure it did for the rest of our class. I nearly fell down the hill but I still found it very fun. At the end of the day I felt sore, tired and extremely proud of what I had done. I am glad I learnt the values like “Resilience and” “Pride”. I took a lot of photos and here are a few.

My 100WC-The Flight

1 day I was flying across the libyan desert traveling to New Zealand in a yellow airplane with a violin beside me. I checked the temperature and it said 50 degrees celsius. I was sweating and i was starting to get hungary. I had already eaten a lot of food. As we were about to land the plane started to swing side to side and it was a crooked land. as we got out of the plane there was a man walking away who had swept all the leaves away. When we walked into the airport someone yelled out, "HEY!"

My 100WC

Once upon a time a old man was walking through the mall with his friend, Franklin when they decided to sit on a bench. After a while a Magician walked up to them to do some magic on him and his friend. Franklin didn’t believe the magic so he said turn him into a statue. The magic man said abracadabra and then straight away he was made of stone. I said to him Franklin, Franklin, Franklin. He didn’t talk back so I went and got Mcdonalds. When I finished eating I tried to shake him but he wouldn’t talk.
